A parent who has filed due process against a school district and whose first language is not English, is asking for a certified court interpreter is rather than a standard interpreter. A court certified interpreter would be knowledgeable of court-related terminology.  This parent contends that a due process hearing is a “quasi-judicial” proceeding, and therefore a court-certified interpreter is required.  In the past, standard interpreters have been used in due process hearings. Do you have any information on this?
