TAESE (Technical Assistance for Excellence in Special Education) is inviting proposals for presentations at the 2026 Tri-State Special Education Law Conference, to be held on Nov 12-13 at the CHI Health Center in Omaha, Nebraska. This annual event brings together over 1,000 parents, advocates, attorneys, special education directors, administrators, and other education leaders to explore the latest developments in special education law and practice. This event is planned on behalf of the Iowa Department of Education, the Kansas Department of Education, and the Nebraska Department of Education.  However, we have many other states that typically attend this event.

We welcome proposals that reflect the full range of legal, practical, and collaborative issues in special education, including but not limited to:
•    Updates on IDEA, Section 504, and ADA regulations and case law
•    Parent and student rights, dispute resolution, and mediation strategies
•    Roles and responsibilities of school leaders, special education directors, and attorneys in fostering compliance and collaboration
•    Practical tools for parents and advocates to effectively navigate the IEP process
•    Addressing emerging issues (e.g., mental health supports, virtual services, discipline, LRE considerations, AI)
•    Strengthening partnerships between families and schools to reduce conflict and build trust

We know that many of you can present on more than one topic, but we would love you to put which topic you feel is most needed or most popular at this time.  Then there is an additional question where you can add additional topics!

Deadline is January 30, 2026
